Ellen   Gunderson Traylor
Montana Woman

The Center. It was a monumental job to achieve the dream Ellen had in this beautiful setting. The building required extensive renovation, but she did not give up. And look at the results! This is a beautiful place to hold a seminar, enjoy the coastal air, walks on gorgeous grounds and rest in a lovely spot right at the center of the Oregon Coast.

The Center photos were taken by Ruth, with a few exceptions,

and there's many more. But this gives everyone the essence of

what it took to get the gathering place to the function and the

beauty she had in her mind. So enjoy the photos posted below,

and when in Oregon, be sure to stop at Port Hole Books.

Walk outside to see where this dream became a reality for Ellen.

Meet Richard Schulz & Ellen Traylor

In 2010, Richard Schulz & his wife, Ellen Traylor,
purchased Smith River Station, a former USFS Compound.

Years of loving work have refurbished the buildings and the 3.5 acres, which are framed by towering fir and sequoia trees. The grounds are also graced by a year-round stream. Beauty is everywhere, with birds singing, sun filtering softly, morning mists rising, and coastal sunsets glowing.. Of course we do get rain on the Oregon coast, but rain or shine, one simply feels the enjoyment of being here.

The owners' dream for a multi-use center came

true in 2014, and has been growing ever since.

Look out for our up and coming website!

I, Ruth, loved working for and especially with Ellen. She gave me, a 70 year old woman the chance of a lifetime to build my own dream. This site for family and friends of Ellen, is my gratitude in action.

The website she is speaking of in the post, is no longer active, but the comment on the site we were in process of building back then.

The photo of Dick and Ellen was taken by Ruth, just after they returned from Montana. The Center renovation of construction work was nearly complete and ready to add the final touches for booking events.

From that day on, over the next few weeks Ellen put her magic of decorating details to work that you see in the photos. The Event Hall, The Kitchen, The Board Room, Dick's Office, the Lounge, and The Loft, but especially The Up Kitchen.
